Top places in Valle del Cauca to visit after an event

According to ProColombia, for the year 2022, “The arrival of international visitors to the country for business meetings and professional events, between January and February 2022, registered 16,634 travelers, representing an increase of 123.1% compared to the same months of the previous year.” Therefore, both Colombia and the region of Valle del Cauca, has a lot to offer to all its visitors and here we will show you which places you should visit.

It is worth mentioning that Valle del Cauca is equivalent to 2% of the national territory and has more than 2 million hectares, being the second most biodiverse department in the country.

“The Valley enjoys a natural wealth represented in 8 biomes and 35 ecosystems, from the coastal marine area to the moors, and in the department have been identified 500 species of fish, 163 species of amphibians, 135 species of reptiles, 818 species of birds, 210 species of mammals and 5,000 species of plants”. According to biologist Enrique Javier Peña Salamanca, professor at the Universidad del Valle.

Pance: One of the most recommended places by all Cali residents, which is 24 km away from the north of Cali. Pance is made up of 13 villages and 7 settlements. Its total area is 10,509 mt2 and a total population of 2,035 inhabitants. The natural places of greatest attraction are: Pance River, Parque de la Salud, Parque El Embudo, Parcelación Chorro de Plata, Club del Departamento, Los Arrayanes, La Chorrera del Indio and El Pueblito Pance. This ‘patch’ focuses on living a day surrounded by nature, mountains, breathing fresh air, bathing in the river, cooking sancocho in firewood and spending a day with the family.

Zoologico de Cali

Zoo: Considered one of the best in Latin America, the zoo houses more than two thousand animals in its total area of 25 hectares. It has around 233 species, including amphibians, mammals, reptiles, birds, fish and butterflies. Among them are: kangaroos, the white tiger, the Andean Condor, hippopotamus and the peacock. You must be available from 1 to 3 hours to visit the whole place.

Pico de loro

Pico de Loro: It is one of the most famous mountains in the region, located in the Farallones de Cali. It is visited mainly by athletes and tourists who want to venture an ascent of 1,200 m to reach its summit. It has a distance of 2,860 meters above sea level and here you can live an experience that you will remember for a lifetime, having the opportunity to enjoy bird watching.

San Cipriano

San Cipriano: If we are talking about natural reserves, San Cipriano is a Colombian treasure that you must visit if you like adventures and nature. It is a town surrounded by forest, where you will only breathe fresh air and tranquility. It is located only 100 km from the capital of Valle del Cauca. You can do different activities such as ecological hikes, sport fishing, horseback riding, visit the butterfly farm, enjoy the waterfalls, its crystal clear rivers and enjoy a little trip in ‘brujitas’, which is a local means of transportation.

Anchicayá Canyon: Here we will talk about a dream place, one of those that make you want to live there. The Anchicayá canyon is a little explored destination, but that enchants with its biodiversity. It is located in the village of El Danubio in the municipality of Dagua, 3 hours from the city of Cali. Ginebra: If you want to taste the best chicken stew in the Valley, you have to go to Ginebra. Its gastronomy is one of its main attractions: Arroz Atollado, Tostadas de Plátano with its exquisite Salsa Criolla or traditional “Hogao”, Hojaldras, the delicious Marranitas and of course, its Sancocho cooked in a wood fire.
